At Birchwood Community High School, we are committed to supporting students’ journey from primary to secondary school. Whilst this is an exciting time, we also understand how challenging this can be which is why we have a comprehensive support offer in place, for all students who are new to our school.

We appreciate that this can also be a worrying time for parents too and we want to make sure that any questions or concerns that you may have are addressed promptly and thoroughly.

For this reason, we have attached some FAQs below- these may help with any queries that you may have, in the first instance.

Your email address is the best way for us to contact you before your child starts school in September. Please use the form below to provide us with your email. It is helpful for school to have an email address for all parents and carers – not just one per child.

Parent Information Evening
Wednesday 6th July

What can we expect?
We are looking forward to meeting you. There will be a 30-minute welcome talk which include some key information around:

• Behaviour systems
• Enrichment opportunities
• Curriculum outline

After the talk, there will be the opportunity to:

• Speak to Heads of Houses and our pastoral team
• Speak to our SEND department
• Purchase uniform
• Ask any questions that you may have

To ensure that everyone gets the chance to listen to the welcome talk and get the information that they need, we have organised two sessions. To help to make this as clear as possible, we have assigned different time slots to different primary schools.

If you foresee any issues with these timings, please contact Ms Jones:

The first talk will be at 4: 30, you are welcome to attend school any time from 4: 15.

The second talk will be at 5: 30, you are welcome to attend school any time from 5: 15.
