​Birchwood Community High School is celebrating another fantastic set of GCSE results this summer, reflecting the hard work and dedication of its students and staff. 

The school has recorded improved outcomes at grades 7+ and 5+ in both English and mathematics. Science results were particularly impressive, reaching a record high, with 73% of students achieving at least two science qualifications at grade 4 or above. These achievements represent a significant step forward for the school and demonstrate its continued commitment to academic excellence. 

• 91% pass rate in Art, with 27% achieving the top grades. 

• 81% pass rate in Enterprise and Health and Social Care. 

• 79% pass rate in Computer Science with 21% achieving the top grades. 

• 72% pass rate in Geography with 22% achieving the top grades.

Headteacher, Emma Mills, said she is “incredibly proud” of the achievements of this year’s cohort: 

“It is a hugely proud day for Birchwood as we celebrate our strongest GCSE results yet, continuing a fantastic trend of improvement year on year. 

At Birchwood, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school, with the wellbeing of our students at the heart of everything we do. We know that the progress our students make during their five years with us is exceptional, and it is incredibly rewarding to see that this progress, alongside our high expectations and commitment to learning, translates into such fantastic examination results. Our students leave us ready and able to take the next step in their journey with confidence. 

Our staff are dedicated to ensuring that every student receives the very best education and opportunities, and I am extremely grateful for their hard work, care and commitment. I would also like to thank the parents and families in our community for their continued support, and I feel very fortunate to work in a school with such wonderful students.

 This year’s success stories include:   

• Our head boy Alfie Blizzrd is celebrating today after achieving some great results with six 9s , three 8’s, one D2* and one 7.  

• Well done to Angus Chau for achieving a fabulous set of results with five 9s, two 8s, two 7s, two 6s and one M2. 

• Hannah Kemp shone with her results of five 9s, three 8s, one 7, one six and a D2*. 

• Head boy, Tobiasz Le Gall has achieved outstanding results gaining six 8s, two 7s, one 6 and one 5 and one D2*. 

• Congratulations to Oscar Richardson for his great set of results – three 9s, five 8s and one 6 and one 5.  

• Freya Shovelton’s hard work certainly paid off this morning when they received two 9s, five 8s, one 7, one six and one D2.  

• Ella Bold was pleased with herself today, receiving one 9, five 8’s and four 7s.  

• Zhirr Amin has plenty to celebrate today with four 8s, three sevens, one 6 and a D2.  

• Tallie Sze Wing achieved some outstanding results today, opening her envelope to see three 9’s. Four 8s, two 5’s, one 6, one 4 and a M2.
