These results are a true reflection of the hard work, determination, and resilience shown by our students and staff. The school has faced some tragic and challenging years, but it is fantastic to see such outstanding outcomes. I am so proud of every single one of our students — they should be incredibly proud of themselves too.”

The school credits the results to the commitment of its staff, the support of families, and above all the perseverance of the students, who have worked tirelessly to achieve their goals. In December 2024, Ofsted graded the Quality of Education as ‘good’ and made the following comments which reflects are 2025 outcomes:

Pupils benefit from a broad and ambitious curriculum. This includes an appropriately adapted curriculum for pupils in the specially resourced provision for pupils with SEND (specially resourced provision) Teachers implement the school’s chosen teaching strategies effectively. They design learning that helps pupils to connect new ideas with prior knowledge. Teachers are particularly adept at supporting pupils with SEND so that they achieve well. This is facilitated by high-quality staff training and early identification of pupils’ needs. Assessment strategies are executed well to check for misconceptions and gaps in pupils’ learning.

Birchwood Community High School is looking forward to building on this success and continuing to provide high-quality education and opportunities for its young people.

Emma Mills states:

“As students move on to the next stage of their journeys, the school wishes them every success and happiness. With Birchwood’s values of aspiration, knowledge, and, most importantly, kindness at the heart of all they do, the school hopes every young person continues to thrive, contribute, and find happiness in all they do.”
