Bikeability training for year 7

Bikeability training for year 7

On During the week of March 22nd, we hope, COVID-19 permitting, to de able to deliver bike training sessions for year 7  in conjunction with BikeRight.

This has been both a popular and hugely beneficial opportunity to year 7s particularly those students who cycle to school. Giving then a real insight into traffic safety and good habits whilst cycling and also provides parents with confidence that your child understands the principles of safe cycling.

There is also the ability to take advantage through the scheme of the ‘Dr Bike’ service for your students. They can bring along their bikes and get a full ‘MOT’ before the training to ensure they are in top working order. Again, vital to safe cycling.

Shortly all year 7 parents via our Groupcall system will be emailed a consent form that you can fill out online and email back or drop into school to express your interest in your child taking part.

A copy of the consent form can also be downloaded below and returned to Mrs Dempsey at edempsey@birchwoodhigh.org.

What will my child need?

  • The ability to ride a bike unaided.
  • A signed consent form.
  • A Helmet
  • Appropriate clothing. It is important, especially during the cooler months, that children wear gloves and warm, dry clothing as they will be outside all day.
  • A bike which is road worthy.

The course is completely free of charge and places are limited so we recommend an early reply to secure your place should this fantastic opportunity go ahead.
