Charlie and friends help us provide free school meal vouchers for families throughout half term.

Since January, Birchwood Community High School have been providing £15 per week in vouchers to children who are entitled to free school meals. It is a hard time for many families and these vouchers feed children who are hungry. The vouchers have been provided by the government, however during half term, the voucher scheme has been unavailable, creating a real worry about how our families will cope. To provide the vouchers for the week costs approximately £5000 which without help would have been impossible for us to provide.

Thankfully our governor Charlie Ruddy came to our aid and instigated a crowdfunding page which has been a wonderful success and has really proved how a community can pull together to assist those in need.

Thanks to Charlie, the page and his sponsors our children have been fed this week. Your Kindness and generosity is a real inspiration to us all. And we cannot thank you enough.

Particular thanks must go to the following sponsors and their generous donations:

Fibretec installations – £1,000

Maestro Technologies – £500

Trenches Law – £500

Sapphire Utility Solutions – £500
