Success for Nina as she wins a coveted place at the Northern Ballet School.

Leaving school can be a confusing time, with uncertainty about future routes toward success, but for one of our year 11 students, Nina Hann, her route is clear and really exciting!

After a video audition and an online interview, Nina got news late yesterday afternoon that she has managed to secure an unconditional place at the Northern Ballet School where she will study for 3 years in order to obtain the NBS Diploma in Dance.

The Northern Ballet School holds auditions for potential students from all over the world, so imagine Nina’s excitement to have been accepted for one of only 25 or so places!

Nina’s Mum, Helen said:

“We are immensely proud of Nina’s achievement and couldn’t wait to let BCHS know of her success.”

Nina has been dancing at Hayward Performing Arts (Hayward Dance Academy) in Warrington since she was two years old and has had several impressive dance successes to date including winning the prestigious Junior Mabel Ryan Award in 2016 and runner-up for the Middle Mabel Ryan Award in 2018 at Sadler’s Wells, London.

She became a Cecchetti Classical Ballet Scholar in 2017 and has travelled to London every Saturday for lessons, which was a massive commitment.

During this time, she has been taught by highly regarded classical ballet teachers and also had the privilege of being taught contemporary dance by Dr Ross McKim – former Director of Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance.

As a scholar, she has also performed at The Royal Ballet School in Covent Garden.

Nina’s dance teacher at BCHS, Mrs Burrows said:

“We are so proud of Nina. Her hard work and determination has always been evident in dance but she also carries that through with her attitude to her other school work and to top it all she is a thoroughly nice girl. She is not only a beautiful dancer but also modest. I wish her lots of success at the Northern Ballet School – what an opportunity!”

Good luck Nina from all at BCHS. We will be so sad for you to leave us but do hope that you will remember us and visit when you are a successful performer!
